4th Quarterly meeting for 2017

posted Nov 14, 2017, 12:18 PM by Alabama MUFON   [ updated Nov 14, 2017, 9:50 PM by Scott Cantrell ]

The last meeting for 2017 is a great success

Members and Field Investigators came together October 14 at the North Shelby Library for an open discussion meeting. The discussion varied from introduction of Field investigators in attendance and the new State Director Scott Cantrell. Each shared briefly a glimpse into their history and occupation as well as what captured their interest and led them into the field of ufology. With a combined history including Air Force pilot, DoD contractor, computer specialist and senior systems analyst we have a strong representation for MUFON in Alabama.

North Shelby Library
The discussion proved very interesting as everyone participated sharing their interest in UFOs. We found that several members are interested in or actively studying to test and apply to become Field Investigators. With the collective history of the potential FIs including educators, former military and computer technical consultant we will definitely benefit from a strong core of skills and talent. Encouraged with the strong interest we learned from State Director Cantrell that Alabama is on its way to increasing the base of investigators throughout the state.

The originating interest that attracted those members attending the meeting was diverse and broad in scope. Most grew up having an interest in space exploration and rocket ships while others simply have always held a curiosity and strong belief that the cosmos is just too vast and immense for our planet to be the only rock inhabited with life of self-proclaimed intelligence. A few were willing to share a brief look into their own personal experiences including SD Cantrell.

With everyone having such a variety of backgrounds and skill sets combined with an eclectic and varying array of originating interest the meeting made for an approximate representation for Alabama as a whole. The conclusion of the meeting included request by the State Director asking everyone to talk with individuals we meet about UFOs and about MUFON. We were also encouraged to invite individuals expressing interest to the next meeting which is tentatively planned for Mid-January or February.

If you have an interest in UFOs we invite you to join us at our quarterly meetings. Meeting dates and times will be announced here on the website soon. Look around the website and tell us your thoughts and ideas. We always look forward to ways for improving our look and feel. If you are curious about or interested in becoming a member, volunteer or Field Investigator check out the "Get Involved" section of the site. We welcome everyone and can always find a place on the team.
